Here's where I'll divulge the good stuff and what you're paying $5-10 for.
A good sharpening includes much more than simply grinding your blades. I can't believe how many uneven edges, burnt steel and "banana" blades I'm seeing these days. Your hollow should be specific, based among weight, ice conditions, type of skater and personal preference. There is no such thing as a "standard" hollow.
Additionally, the process is art work. Automated machines, though they've come light years ahead of the "vending machine" we knew 20 years ago, lack the human interaction and ability to grind a precise, even edge in every pair of blades. Simply put, a goalie blade is thicker than a player blade and, quite possibly, blades on a pair of skates may be different in width. You deserve even edges, a precise hollow and a polished final pass.
My process ensures the above qualities which means a repeatable, better, smoother, more precise and more durable edge to save you energy and maximize speed and agility to get you to the open ice.
Awesome
