I'm in the process of making a brochure and will be handing out some draft versions locally. Stay posted.
What is it?
Changing the shape of your blades to give the best balance point and blade contact with the ice surface.
What is best for me?
Every player is different. We can do everything from 9' Neutral to "CAG" to 9'/10' combo and goalie radii on most setups as well.
Why does it cost so much man?
It's time consuming. I perform many measurements, including height, weight and skating type. Also, my system is based on what I refer to as a tangential radius, most systems out there, including many pro teams use a 1" wide cross grinder with a convex hollow that is "hand" ground to the wheel. I contend this method can be improved upon.
I guarantee the location of your balance point, center of contour and intersection of combo radii to ensure not only an exact point of contact but an exact point of reference to deviate from as contouring is an exact science in method but not in preference and performance. By knowing, marking and referencing an exact point of reference on the contour, precise down to the mm as opposed to 1", we can adjust your contour to exactly meet your needs. As the location of balance point and radius of contour selection is, to date, mostly art and some science I guarantee your contour; meaning you pay once for the original work and up to two adjustments as long as you've tested each adjustment for at least 3 different hour long sessions and only up to 30 days from the original work.
I do recommend that even with an experienced sharpener, you get your contour re-accomplished at least annually and on every set of new steel or pair of skates. I can also match blades, customize toe/heel work.
